Since the beginning of La Casa de Papel, Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) has been the narrator of the Spanish series. Why did the creators choose this character to tell the adventures of the robbers on Netflix?

Be careful, spoilers. It is advisable to have seen the first part of season 5 of La Casa de Papel before continuing to read this article.

Throughout the five seasons of La Casa de Papel on Netflix, it is the voice of Tokyo, embodied by Úrsula Corberó, who tells how the gang of robbers achieved the heists of the century in Spain. Why her and not The Professor (Álvaro Morte)?

In the documentary La Casa de Papel: The Phenomenon, available on the platform, the creators say that from the start they chose to make Tokyo the main protagonist and that it was therefore logical to make her the narrator so that she tells what happened to her.

What about the last part of season 5?

But the end of the first part of season 5 turns everything upside down. Pushed into their entrenchments in the Bank of Spain by Gandia and his men, the robbers are at their worst. During a bloody confrontation, Tokyo is hit by bullets and immobilized.

The young woman will then sacrifice herself to save her companions and dies. This shocking event for fans of the series raises a question: who will narrate the second part of the fifth and final season of La Casa de Papel?

A last statement from Tokyo could well make believe that it will always be the young woman who will tell the last events of the series: “I’m not the type to rot in prison. I’m the type to run away. And if my body can’t run away, my soul can.”

Will his soul haunt the Bank and watch over his friends one last time until the final resolution? With La Casa de Papel anything can happen and it wouldn’t be surprising if Tokyo continues to tell the story of the robbers, with the character being highly regarded by fans.

If, however, the creators decided to opt for more realism, it will have to be another character who tells the events like The Professor, for example. It will be necessary to wait until December 3 to discover the second part of season 5 of La Casa de Papel on Netflix.
