December 3 is coming very quickly and it is on this date that the last episodes of “La Casa de Papel”, the Spanish hit series from Netflix, will be put online. The platform does not intend to stop exploiting the universe and has just announced the first spin-off.
La Casa de Papel : the end of a cult series
No need to present at length La Casa de Papel as the show has made its nest on Netflix in recent years. We remember that it was first launched in a certain anonymity, before becoming a phenomenon that even touched popular culture. Whether you like it or not, it’s impossible to deny its aura. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the chance to discover the ending next December 3.
Briefly, as a reminder, La Casa de Papel follows a group of robbers led by the Professor, in an incredible heist within the National Currency and Stamp Factory. The series particularly caught the audience thanks to its scenario which combines the twists and turns but also thanks to its gallery of characters who bear the names of cities. We can’t wait to see how things turn out for them, knowing that the last burst of episodes showed them to be in a bad spot.
A first official spin-off
Yes La Casa de Papel will come to an end, his universe will continue to live on. We suspected it and it’s now official with a very first spin-off which has just been announced. The latter will focus on Berlin, a protagonist with a good popularity rating with the public.
We will not spoil many people by recalling that he lost his life in the series. He did, however, continue to signal himself via scenes in the past and his relationship with the Professor was made explicit. This new series takes the title of Berlin: A New Series but little more is known about its content. The platform specifies that the broadcast will take place in 2023.
The big question that immediately comes to mind concerns the participation of Pedro Alonso, the interpreter from Berlin. Logic would like him to resume his role, in a scenario that will necessarily take place before the frame of La Casa de Papel. We can also expect to see Álvaro Morte as the Professor again.
This first spin-off is likely not to be the last since Netflix has made a habit of trying to make the most of successful universes. Knowing that a few other characters are very popular – Tokyo, first and foremost – we should not be surprised if other titles emerge in the years to come.
