Kirby and the Forgotten World unleashes a new mechanic

If the sequel to a certain Breath of the Wild remains one of the most anticipated games of the year 2022, other iconic heroes of the manufacturer have already announced their intention to make their comeback, yes but on Switch, like dear Kirby.

Last September, the famous Kyoto constructor took advantage of a Nintendo Direct for families to fire everything: between the release window of Bayonetta 3, that of Triangle Strategy or the arrival of the Mega Drive and Nintendo 64 game libraries in the Nintendo Switch Online subscription (+ Additional Pack), there was plenty to do. But in the midst of all this fuss, Nintendo was also announcing the return of the mascot so dear to Masahiro Sakurai with a brand new solo episode: Kirby and the Forgotten World, which the most survivalist of our editors immediately called “The Last of Us. in the land of sweets “.

Pan, you’re dead!

Announced for “spring 2022”, this somewhat post-apocalyptic Kirby is now getting a head start through the Entertainment Software Rating Board, the body responsible for the classification of video games in the United States. The sheet of Kirby and the Forgotten World (or Kirby and the Forgotten Land in the language of Reggie Fils-Aimé) has indeed just surfaced, and reveals some (meager) elements of this future Switch exclusive:

This is an action-adventure game in which players help Kirby save creatures kidnapped by the forces of the wrong. Players move through 3D platform levels while collecting coins, solving puzzles, and using Kirby’s abilities to fight cartoonish enemies (e.g. mushrooms, foxes, or giant tortoises). Players use blaster-type swords, bombs and pistols to defeat enemies; some weapons allow players to use targeting / reticle to shoot from a distance. Boss fights can be frantic, with laser fire, explosions, and projectiles, often from a close-up perspective.

Because times are tough, even at Nintendo, dear Kirby would therefore be determined to use firearms! The very first trailer had already allowed us to discover the handling of a sword, the throwing of a boomerang or even a kind of ball à la Katamari Damacy, but not at that.

So what could have happened in this funny yet colorful universe to get there? For now, the mystery remains, but you can still tell us about your candy pink theories in the comments below.
