As the end of the year approaches, Canal + has unveiled part of its program for 2022. And in the lot, we are told the return of long-awaited series, and great new products.

Tokyo Vice in 2022 on Canal +

In 2022, Canal + will continue to offer us attractive and varied programs. The encrypted channel has announced its schedule of series for the coming months, and more particularly for next year. No specific dates, but announcements of novelties that will dream. The one that caught our attention first was obviously Tokyo Vice. The series is long overdue in large part because Michael mann is producing and directing at least the first episode.

The director of Heat is therefore making his comeback on television, he who notably produced the cult series Two cops in Miami. The filmmaker had already returned on the small screen in 2011 with the only season of Luck.

Regarding Tokyo Vice, the series will follow Jake adelstein, a 24-year-old American reporter who joins the police and justice department of “Yomiuri Shimbun”, the largest Japanese daily. While collaborating with the local police, he is contacted by the mafia. He becomes an interlocutor of the yakusas while continuing to be a police informant. But this ambivalent position is not without danger …

Tokyo Vice will tell the true story of the only western reporter to have written for a Japanese newspaper and who denounced organized crime in Japan. In the cast we will find Ansel Elgort, Ken Watanabe, Rachel Keller, Ella Rumpf, Rinko Kikuchi.

The other novelties

Besides Tokyo Vice, here are the other new series which will be broadcast in 2022:

  • Yellowjackets with Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci; After their plane crashes in a wilderness area in the North of the United States, young high school girls on a football team struggle for survival and fall into savagery. Twenty-five years later, the survivors have rebuilt themselves, but the past always resurfaces.
  • This is Going to Hurt with Ben Whishaw; A hospital obstetrician, Adam is often overwhelmed by events, overwhelmed by XXL work weeks, vital decisions to be made and a ridiculous salary. A daily obstacle course in which his personal life takes on the appearance of a buoy
    safety.

  • Landscapers with Olivia Colman and David Thewlis; Two corpses are found in the garden of Susan and Christopher Edwards’ suburban home. They are found guilty. But how did this seemingly quiet couple come to kill Susan’s parents and hide the facts for ten years?
  • Don’t leave me, Italian series of 8 episodes of 52 minutes; Police officer Elena deals with cyber crimes and violence against minors, with a particular interest in missing children. The discovery of the body of a young boy in the lagoon of Venice brings her back to the city she left twenty years before.
  • British series Ridley road, the swedish Threesome and the Danish Suicide bomber.

The return of iconic series

2022 will also mark the return of important series. We think above all of Killing Eve, who will come back for a fourth and final season, and the excellent Italian series The prodigious friend which will begin (finally) its third season. Two series that we have been waiting for two years now.

Finally, we are promised seasons 6 of Trillions and This is Us, the fourth of Babylon Berlin, season 3 of City on a Hill and the second season of Your Honor. A big program to come!
