Actor Keanu Reeves, currently starring in “Matrix Resurrections”, has just revealed which were his 18 favorite films. There are works by Stanley Kubrick, the Coen brothers, Sam Raimi and also Luc Besson.
Keanu Reeves lifts the veil on his cinephilia. When Carrie-Anne-Moss, her partner in the Matrix saga, asked the actor which films he would recommend to her and her teenage children, the interpreter of Neo did not hesitate for long! Reeves has thus shared his 18 favorite films, a list mixing all genres where we find the Coen brothers, Stanley Kubrick, Sam Raimi or Luc Besson.
The list, revealed by the Esquire website, crosses several decades of seventh art. There are several great classics such as The Seven Samurai by Kurosawa, Arizona Junior and The Big Lebowski by the Coen brothers, Clockwork Orange and Doctor Strangelove by Stanley Kubrick or Amadeus by Milos Forman.
Particularly eclectic, Keanu Reeves also cites comedies with Monty Python, sacred Grail and two films by Mel Brooks (Frankenstein Junior and The Sheriff is in prison). Also on the menu: a western (Outlaw Josey Wales with Clint Eastwood), SF (Mad Max 2, Rollerball), horror (Evil Dead) and… two films by Luc Besson, Léon and Nikita.
Keanu Reeves, currently starring in Matrix Resurrections, is also very sharp when he places the unknown in his list Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead, adaptation of Shakespeare carried by Gary Oldman and Tim Roth who won the Golden Lion in Venice in 1990. Finally, since you are never better served than by yourself, he does not forget to advise Carrie- Anne Moss two films of which he is in the credits: The Bad Batch and The Neon Demon by Nicolas Winding Refn.
