Star actress in the lead role of the highly anticipated series
The long-running adaptation of “Devil in the White City” has been made even more exciting by the news that Keanu Reeves has been confirmed to play one of the lead roles. The series is based on the book of the same name by Erik Larson. Competing to make his mark on history with the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, Daniel H. Burnham (Reeves), a demanding but visionary architect, and America’s first modern serial killer, Dr. It tells the true story of HH Holmes.
Martin Scorsese, Rick Yorn, Leonardo DiCaprio and Appian Way’s Jennifer Davisson, Stacey Sher, Sam Shaw and Mark Lafferty are executive producers. Reeves will serve as executive producer along with the lead role. Sam Shaw is adapting the book for the screen and will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Todd Field is in charge of directing and executive producing.
This project will be Reeves’ first major American television role. He starred in a number of TV movies early in his career, and also appeared in the Swedish-American web series “Swedish Dicks.” Reeves, one of the most popular names of our age, is more “The Matrix”, “John WickHe is known for his work in film series such as ” and “Bill & Ted”. He also made a name for himself with roles in movies such as “Speed”, “Point Break”, “My Own Private Idaho”, “Constantine” and “The Day the Earth Stood Still”.
DiCaprio bought the rights to the book in 2010 with plans to adapt it into a movie starring Holmes. Scorsese came to the project to direct in 2015, with Billy Ray writing the script. It was originally developed in Hollywood by Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner through Cruise/Wagner and through shingle’s deal with Paramount, however, that option expired in 2004. Paramount bought the movie rights back in 2007 and set up the story with producer Michael Shamberg. Hulu announced they were developing it as a series in 2019, and Reeves was reportedly in negotiations for the lead role in the show in January 2022.
