Alexandre Astier has control over everything Kaamelott from writing to music, but he has accepted that a line of dialogue be signed by someone else: Guillaume Gallienne. A rather colorful replica!
This article is SPOILER and reveals intrigue points from “Kaamelott – first installment”. Read on at the risk of spoiling the surprises and revelations of the film.
Kaamelott’s DVD-Blu-Ray – First part is finally out and with it, an audio commentary provided by Alexandre Astier in the company of two of his children. The opportunity for fans to glean more information behind the scenes of the film and its characters.
That morning, Kaamelott’s team shot the toll scene, which narratively takes place on the Spanish-Aquitaine border. The actor Guillaume Gallienne goes to see Alexandre Astier and asks him if he can not add a line to his character of Alzagar. And this line, here it is:
When he says bitch, he means that in a good way.
By the admission of Kaamelott’s dad, it is the only replica of the film that is not signed by his hand. To recall the context, in the story, the swindler Venec has just insulted the Duchess of Aquitaine in order to be arrested by the authorities and to get out of the clutches of Alzagar by shouting: “the Duchess of Aquitaine is a bitch!”.
Algazar therefore pronounces his reply in order to try – badly – to attenuate the violence of the insult launched by the former slave owner. Obviously, the toll collector’s blood only turns and he stops Venec, Arthur in his cage and Alzagar. The latter will manage all the same to extract from the Duke of Aquitaine a colossal sum of money for the “sale” of Arthur.
The Duke and Duchess of Aquitaine have been played by Alain Chabat and Geraldine Nakache since their first appearance in the series in season 5 and they obviously resume their roles for the needs of the film. They also play a capital role in Arthur’s return to business since it is the Duke who leads the bearer of Excalibur to an enclave of resistance to Lancelot: the Bohort Round Table.
