Once we have seen the post-credits scene of “Kaamelott – First part” (in theaters since July 21), this line that Méléagant uttered in the first episode of book V resonates in a completely different way. Beware, spoilers!
SPOILERS – Warning, the article below reveals potential spoilers. If you do not want to know the content, please do not read the following …
We are at the end of Kaamelott – First part. After recovering Excalibur and chasing Lancelot, Arthur prepares to rebuild the Kingdom of Logres and create a new Round Table to set out again in search of the Grail. But his enemies did not disappear for all that.
As we can see during a post-credits sequence, Méléagant, the famous “man in black” who has been pulling the strings in the shadows from the start and who slyly organized the Lancelot revolt, is back. Crawling, weakened, dragging itself through snow and dead leaves, it seems particularly in bad shape. But despite his condition, his reappearance does not bode well for the heroes of Kaamelott.
Indeed, as some fans have noticed, this enigmatic sequence had already been announced by Méléagant himself, and this from the third episode of Book V, broadcast in 2007.
I open one eye, I crawl, eating snow, licking stale water, and my enemies flinch. Because seeing me drink, they understand that I’m back.
Entitled The Last Resort, there was notably a Lancelot exiled in a cave, desperate by his recent defeat, and on the verge of suicide. His mentor Méléagant then joined him and, with a deceptively jovial air, lectured him on the nature of his retirement:
“Me, when I have nothing more to do here, I retire. No more a drop of water, no more a ray of sunshine. I am drying myself from head to toe, like a little corpse under a heap of leaves. seasons fly over me without suspecting me. And then, one day, the crow says that she heard someone in the distance who starts crying again: “Guinevere! Guinevere! “So there, I open an eye, I crawl, eating the snow, licking the stagnant water, and my enemies tremble. Because seeing me drink, they understand that I’m back.”
This particularly mysterious tirade obviously takes on a whole new meaning when you listen to it again after seeing the post-credits scene from Kaamelott – First part, which seems to put in images the words of Méléagant: the great villain of the saga created by Alexandre Astier, after long years of absence, enters again in the dance. But what will be his role in the films to come? And what exactly are his intentions?
You will have to wait until the exit of Kaamelott – Second part (as quickly as possible, we hope) to find out.
