“Kaamelott: First part” focused on the return of Arthur. But the movie’s post-credits scene brought back another important character from the show. A sequence that had already been announced.
Successful bet for Kaamelott: First part
After years of waiting, fans of Kaamelott were finally able to discover the rest of the series at the cinema with Kaamelott: First part. We find Arthur, who has left his kingdom and his functions. But while Lancelot is now in power, Pendragon’s son will be forced to return. First forced, after being taken, prisoner. Then convinced by his old acquaintances whom he will come across throughout the film: Perceval, Karadoc, the Lady of the Lake, the Duke of Aquitaine, Guenièvre, etc.
At the end of the feature film, Arthur manages to defeat his demons and Lancelot. Armed with Excalibur, he still leaves life to his former right arm before his castle collapses. Kaamelott: First part then ends on two symbolic planes. First with Lancelot who faces a huge ghost, that of his late father, King Ban. Then Arthur and Guinevere reunited. But that was not all. Because the film offered fans a post-credits scene.
Meleagan is back!
In this sequence, we see a character well known to fans of Kaamelott. It is Meleagant (Carlo Brandt). A dark and deceitful character who appeared from Book IV. He notably made Lancelot go over to the dark side, and is clearly at the origin of Arthur’s suicide attempt. Considered a kind of god of death, this evil antagonist is therefore back. And this, despite his very weak appearance.
We actually see it crawling and looking bad. A situation that had been announced in the past by Meleagan himself. Indeed, it was this time in Book V. “The Man in Black” then appeared before Lancelot, about to end his life. He then addressed him this line:
Me, when I have nothing more to do here, I retire… Not a drop of water. More a ray of sunshine. I wither myself, from head to toe, into a little corpse under a heap of leaves… The seasons fly over me without suspecting me… And then, one day, the crow says that she has heard someone in the distance starting to to cry. Guinevere! Guinevere! So there, I open one eye, I crawl, eating the snow, licking the stagnant water… And my enemies start, because seeing me drink, they understand that I’m back.
This last part of the monologue, therefore, refers directly to the post-credits scene. If you hadn’t thought of staying until the end of the film when it was released in theaters, you’ll have plenty of time to catch up on this streak now that Kaamelott: First part East is available on DVD and Blu-ray. Or through television broadcasts.
