French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, a fan of Kaamelott, had the chance to watch the film live from the International Space Station. But could Alexandre Astier make room for him in the rest of the saga?
Last July, when the French public finally discovered the sequel to Kaamelott on the big screen, Arthur, Perceval, Karadoc and their companions also became the very first knights to go into space.
Indeed, as he had promised to Thomas Pesquet (fan of the series), Alexandre Astier sent him a copy of his feature film, which the astronaut was therefore able to discover live from the ISS (Station International Space).
Following this exceptional screening, wouldn’t the next step for Thomas Pesquet be to come and play a small role in the second part of Kaamelott? In response to one of his fans, during a digital meeting organized by the FnacAstier said that was not in his plans for a very simple reason:
“Thomas Pesquet is not an actor (…)“he recalled. “Thomas Pesquet knows how to do so many things without being an actor! He’s the captain of a spaceship, the guy. (…) I love Thomas Pesquet, but Kaamelott is not a place for people cameos. That’s not what’s happening. In Kaamelott, I like to have people play, and often theater people.”
No important or secondary role for Thomas Pesquet in the sequel to Kaamelott, therefore. But when it comes to a small appearance, Astier does not completely close the door:
“You can find an exception here and there”he added. “Afterwards, if he wants to come and make an appearance, we can find something with great pleasure. But above all, Kaamelott is a story of comedians and actors. And I have far too much respect for this profession – I I was raised by people who did it – to think anyone could do it like that, so simply.”
Alexandre Astier concluded his answer by recalling that above all, he had to “pay for a pizza” to the astronaut, who had tried to call him from the ISS without being able to reach him, to the great regret of the director:
“I think a four cheese can fix all that, I hope”he thus joked.
