Stopped in 2015 after six seasons, the series “Justified” left good memories to those who followed it. Raylan Givens will return, still in the guise of Timothy Olyphant, for a sequel commissioned by FX.
justified : Timothy Olyphant as marshal
In 2010, the FX channel launched justified, a rather charming series, with action, humor and a typically American atmosphere. The program featured the character invented by writer Elmore Leonard. While six seasons, we were able to follow the adventures of Raylan Givens, a Marshal transferred to Kentucky, not far from where he was born. Returning to his land, he discovers that one of his childhood friends has fallen into crime. He then takes it into his head to arrest her, while using methods that are not always very legal.
The screenplay didn’t have much original to offer, but justified nevertheless managed to seduce. Largely thanks to its main character played by Timothy Olyphant. The actor displayed a certain charisma and imposed his presence. We also loved the universe which clearly called Western references. In 2015, the show was entitled to a final point but we learn today that a sequel is on the fire!
A sequel announced on FX
The American press, including Deadline, announces that FX has just given the green light for a titled series Justified: City Primeval. The project is an adaptation of the new City Primeval: High Noon In Detroit, still written by Elmore Leonard. The very good news is that Timothy Olyphant has agreed to reprise his role for what should be a limited series. That said, we can imagine that a hypothetical success could make the channel want to extend the adventure. But instead of talking about conditional, let’s focus on what this sequel is going to be.
The plot will follow Raylan on his return to Miami. A town from which he was expelled at the beginning of justified after killing a fleeing man under shady conditions. He juggles between his life as a Marshal and that of the father of a 14-year-old girl. Following an unexpected encounter, the hero finds himself in Detroit. We can accompany him in his fight againstOklahoma Wildman, a dangerous sociopath. There is no doubt that Raylan will once again make the powder speak and rely on his unorthodox methods.
We do not know anything, for the moment, on the date of shooting and that of the diffusion. In France, the episodes may be to follow on Disney +, in the Star section, because FX has belonged to the firm with the big ears since the takeover of Fox.
