Expected for June 8 in theaters, Jurassic World: The World According to Us presents a new dino ready to pounce on Chris Pratt to devour him raw!
Last November, Jurassic World 3, dubbed The Next World, revealed an impressive 5-minute prologue. This time, the new episode of the adventures of Owen and Claire unveils a snapshot presenting us a brand new dinosaur ready to make its entry into the saga.
After the Indominus Rex from Jurassic World and the Indoraptor from Fallen Kingdom, here is the Atrociraptor! Unlike the others, this creature was not created in a laboratory by crossing different DNA from saurians. It is a dinosaur that really existed, whose remains were discovered in 2004.
Close to the Velociraptor in its morphology, this species seems as ferocious as its illustrious elder. The photo of the Atrociraptor in The Next World was released by Empire, who also posted an interview with director Colin Trevorrow.
The latter describes this new dino as more brutal and vicious than the Raptor. In the photo, we see him chasing Owen (Chris Pratt), perched on his motorcycle. As in previous games, the character still seems to love two-wheel chases against these deadly creatures.
“It’s a sequence that takes place in Malta. And the picture speaks for itself. Chris Pratt is being chased by an Atrociraptor. If he catches up with him, he’s going to die. So he has to go faster!”, indicates the director.
“If the Velociraptor is a bit more of a stealth hunter, the Atrociraptors are a bit more brutal. These things chase you relentlessly and pounce on you. In this case, they’ve spotted its scent and they’re not going to stop. before he died. They are brutal and vicious “, specifies Colin Trevorrow.
The filmmaker also reveals that The Next World will introduce the Pyroraptor, a small bipedal dinosaur, among the myriad of new species present in the film. This predator was discovered in 2000 in Provence, in the reptile sandstones of Bouches-du-Rhône. He would have lived at the end of the Campanian, the beginning of the Maastrichtian (end of the Cretaceous, between 83 and 65 million years before our era).
“I love Pyroraptors and I love Atrociraptors”, says the director. “There’s a little one, the Moros intrepidus, which doesn’t appear in the movie for long, but when it does, I love it.”.
Jurassic World 3 hits theaters on June 8, 2022. As a reminder, the three heroes of the first Jurassic Park are back: Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern. They will of course be surrounded by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, protagonists of this new trilogy.
