The heroes of the Japanese edition know it all too well: some careers with Weekly Shōnen Jump may turn out to be shorter than others. Despite the frank camaraderie displayed in Jump Force, Bandai Namco’s crossover is about to bow out.
In its great tradition of capitalizing on the synergy of the forces present, the Japanese publisher took advantage of the 50th anniversary of the mythical prepublication magazine to release Jump Force, a concentrate of heroes who wrote some of its most beautiful pages. But here it is: a casting like this costs money, a lot of money. Three years after its initial release, the catch-all fighting game will therefore bow out.
Take out the handkerchiefs and shed your most beautiful Crocodile tears (the one from One Piece, CQFD): Bandai Namco today announces the deprogramming of Jump Force for February 8, nearly three years to the day after its Japanese release.
On his official site, the publisher details his decision:
Everyone at Bandai Namco Entertainment would like to sincerely thank all Jump Force players for their years of support. Today we are announcing the end of the availability of the game in its digital version. The game Jump Force, its DLC and the purchase of virtual currencies will no longer be accessible from February 8, 2022 at 2 a.m. in Europe.
So that there is no jealousy, all versions (PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One) are concerned. But that’s not all, since the servers will close on August 25 at 7 a.m. at home., and the days of our hot-blooded heroes are numbered. Bandai Namco details the list of content that will be made as inaccessible as Akira Toriyama:
- Multiplayer lobby login
- Online Events
- Clan features
- Viewing the Notice Board
- Consulting rankings
- Access to the rewards desk
- Online Store
- Premium shop
- Ranked Online Match
So all that’s left will be offline matches and unranked matches to keep Jump Force’s legacy alive. But will you really want to? In view of the final verdict of our birthday boy home, nothing is less certain …
For those who still wish to work for the conservation of video game heritage, remember that Jump Force is available on PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One, and online until February 8, 2022. How do you say it? Oh yes : matta ne !
