The film will tell the life of world record holder adventurer Wim Hof.
Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald is preparing to shoot a biopic about the life of Wim Hof, also known as the Ice Man due to his resistance to extreme cold. The leading role in the movie called “The Iceman” will be the successful actor Joseph Fiennes, who will play Wim Hof.
Dutch motivational speaker and extreme athlete Wim Hof has entered the Guinness Book of Records 9 times, including the longest ice bath in the world. In 2007, he tried to climb Mount Everest wearing only shorts, but was unsuccessful in this attempt. In 2009, he made the same attempt on Mount Kilimanjaro and managed to climb the mountain in two days with only shorts. Linking his interesting achievements to the Wim Hof Method (WHM), a combination of frequent cold exposure, breathing techniques, yoga and meditation, Hof has been the subject of various medical reviews and books.
Director Kevin Macdonald said, “Wim is someone who has suffered a terrible trauma – he lost his wife – and has found a whole new way to deal with the depression that comes with that experience. Jeff Pope has written a wonderful screenplay filled with humor, humanity and emotion. “We meet the Dutch suburbs – a world of crazy tricks, a broken family, a love affair and an enlightenment. This is a movie about resilience, second chances, and the human body and mind’s incredible ability to heal.”
