” Joker : Folie à deux”, the sequel to the film worn by Joaquin Phoenix, has just unveiled its very first image. A new snapshot that accompanies the launch of filming, still under the direction of director Todd Phillips.
Joker : an unexpected success
In 2019, Warner and DC Studios offered us the very first film adapted from DC comics centered on a supervillain. And who better than the Joker for this test? So the studios left out Jared Leto (who since 2016 embodies the Joker in the DC Extended Universenow called the DC Universe), to provide a brand new reading of the Clown of Gotham. Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker is disconnected from the DCU, and focuses on the origins of the Prince of Crime.

In front of the camera of Todd Phillips (very bad trip, Deadline, War Dogs), it is the talented Joaquin Phoenix who embodies the Joker. Also worn by Robert De Niro and Zazie Beetz, the feature film met with impressive critical and popular success. Joker has received 11 Oscar nominations (including Best Film) and won two figurines : Best music and Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix. On the box office side, it was also a huge success since the feature film garnered more than 1 billion dollars in revenue worldwide (for a budget of 55 million). Results that prove that the DC universe does not need a connected universe like the DCU to offer outstanding works.
Joker : Madness for two – first image
Faced with this triumph, Warner gave the green light for a sequel. Todd Phillips is back behind the camera, while Joaquin Phoenix and Zazie Beetz both reprise their roles. The rest of the cast will notably feature Brendan Gleeson in a role still kept secret, and above all Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
To accompany the first day of shooting, Todd Phillips has shared the very first photo of Joker : Madness for two. He has indeed published on his Instagram account an image of Joaquin Phoenix being shaved by a white blouse. A cliche that suggests that the Joker is locked up in Arkham Asylumand that it is maintained by a caregiver.
He should logically, as in the comics, meet Harley Quinn on the occasion of her incarceration between the walls of Gotham’s notorious prison. Joaquin Phoenix once again seems to have lost a lot of weight to step into the skin of the brainless clown. Appointment on October 2, 2024 to discover the continuation of the adventures of Jokerwhich will once again be R-rated (prohibited for children under 16 in the United States).
