Netflix today unveils the new unseen season of the animated series “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” that you can watch without having seen the previous ones!
Never has a series been as aptly named as JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Definitely atypical, the Japanese animated series – taken from the manga by Hirohiko Araki (available from Delcourt / Tonkam editions) – follows a story spanning several generations of a family clan whose members inherit powers called “Stands”.
Beginning in 18th century Victorian England, the series has thus traveled back in time, changing the protagonists but also the period or even the main location for its action (Japan, Italy, United States, etc.). Although linked, each of these arcs nevertheless has its own identity, allowing viewers to follow the series in any order they choose.
“I am one of those who think that we can discover JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure in no particular order, especially because we published the series out of order, I even believe that we are the only country to have published the series out of order. and by arc cutting “ Pascal Lafine, editorial director at Delcourt / Tonkam, told us about this in an interview he gave us last February about the series.
Thus, the arrival this December 1 on Netflix of Stone Ocean – the fifth season of the animated series (while the previous ones are not all available on the platform) – does not prevent you from discovering JoJo with this new new arc, quite the contrary. Previously offered on DNA and Crunchyroll, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is now among the programs broadcast exclusively on Netflix.
