The group of friends from “Barbecue” reunites for a holiday in Brittany in “Plancha”. A sequel in which we find the actors and actresses of the first film, including Lambert Wilson and Jérôme Commandeur who find their characters Antoine and Jean-Michel. We caught up with the duo to talk about how their characters have evolved since “Barbecue,” friendship, and their favorite scenes from this new comedy.
Griddleeight years later Barbecue
Time passes and, even in the Breton rain when they were to celebrate Yves’ 50th birthday under the Paros sun -, their friendship resists everything. This is, in essence, what director Éric Lavaine, accompanied by Héctor Cabello Reyes in writing, wants to tell in Griddlecomedy sequel Barbecue released in 2014. French cinema loves stories of friendship, and since Vincent, François, Paul… and the others by Claude Sautet in 1974 or even An elephant cheats a lot by Yves Robert released in 1976, we can even speak of a great tradition.

In a vein where we can also find The Little Handkerchiefs and its sequel We’ll end up together by Guillaume Canet, Éric Lavaine has therefore also his diptych with Barbecue and Griddle. With the exception of Florence Foresti, all the actors and actresses of Barbecue are back. There is therefore Antoine (Lambert Wilson), Yves (Guillaume de Tonquédec), Véronique (Sophie Duez), Laurent (Lionel Abelanski) Laure (Lysiane Meis), Baptiste (Franck Dubosc), Nathalie (Valérie Crouzet) and Jean-Michel ( Jerome Commander). To complete this group of friends from Lyon, two newcomers are there: Ana (Caroline Anglade) and Valentina (Alice Llenas).
Lambert Wilson and Jérôme Commandeur tell us about their characters
On the occasion of the cinema release on October 26, 2022 de Plancha, we met “Antoine” and “Jean-Michel” aka Lambert Wilson and Jerome Commander (video at the top of the article). Two characters who are perhaps in opposite positions in the group, Antoine being the leader and Jean-Michel the discreet whose candor was gently mocked. But in reality, while Jean-Michel has flourished since BarbecueAntoine crosses him a more complicated period… Thus, we laugh more than we worry in Griddle even if, at times, flat the seriousness of certain subjects, that these friends find difficult to approach.
A little more depth, therefore, is what Jérôme Commandeur retains in particular from this Griddle :
“Barbecue” dealt with the problems of the daily life of the group of friends. “You said that to so and so, I told you that I can’t repeat it” (…) Anyway, everything we know by heart in our bands of friends at all. There, it goes beyond that. That’s what, I think, really makes the film spice. It really speaks in depth.
