Jennifer Coolidge Will Return – The channel said, “Jennifer Coolidge, a world-class VIP, has joined the second season of #TheWhiteLotus.” said. Details regarding Coolidge’s role were not disclosed. Production of the second season began Monday in Sicily, Italy.
The note shared on social media read, “Our next White Lotus season is on the way. We look forward to welcoming our guests to Sicily soon. #TheWhiteLotus.” In the first season, the 60-year-old actress played Tanya McQuoid, one of the guests of the luxurious White Lotus resort in Hawaii, who is trying to find herself again after her mother’s death. Coolidge’s hilarious yet devastating work as Tanya has made her a fan favorite on the hit HBO show.
The star actress previously told PEOPLE that she almost turned down the role because of concerns about her weight. In November, Coolidge recounted how creator Mike White contacted him saying he was “writing an episode for himself,” but added that at the time he felt discomfort in his body after gaining weight during the Covid-19 pandemic. Coolidge said, “I tried to get rid of it because I had gained a lot of weight. During Covid I let everything go. For most of my life I let a lot of things go, but during Covid I really let everything go.” said.
Coolidge was nominated for a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for this role. In the first season, she co-starred with Sydney Sweeney, Alexandria Daddario, Connie Britton, Natasha Rothwell, Jake Lacy, and Steve Zahn. White, who wrote, directed, and co-produced the first season, originally intended The White Lotus to be a miniseries with a six-episode season. However, after the show became a hit, HBO decided to continue the series. Season two will also star Michael Imperioli, F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Meghann Fahy, Tom Hollander, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Will Sharpe, and Leo Woodall.
