Japanese café serves “hair” from anime waifus

Japanese café serves "hair" from anime waifus

There are no limits to the fetishes of otakus. That’s what a Japanese café thought too took that’s why it promptly includes the »hair« of anime characters in its menu.

hair of your waifu

This specialty was brought to life by the café chain STARS, who describes the concept »Let’s Eat Our Oshi’s Hair« as pretty crazy. That’s why the »hair« was only served in a STARS café in the otaku capital of Akihabara. STARS cafes feature a karaoke section and anime/subculture songs (such as Vocaloid, Game, Pachinko).

However, even by the crazy standards in Akihabara, human hair is not allowed to be served in a restaurant. Of course, the “hair” is just colored noodles. More specifically somen, very fine and long vermicelli made from wheat flour, traditionally served cold floating in ice water during the summertime.

For the one-day campaign, which was actually started on the basis of several customer suggestions, the Somen were served in all imaginable colors. The price of the dish was 400 to 500 yen (about 2.80 to 3.50 euros) depending on the color. You can see a picture of it below.
