Joining the cast of HBO’s “Batgirl”, Aquino will play the character of Alysia Yeoh.
Ivory Aquino, who took part in productions such as When We Rise, Lapsis, Lingua Franca, joined the cast of the movie Batgirl, which will be broadcast on HBO Max. Aquino will play the character of Batgirl / Barbara Gordon’s roommate, Alysia Yeoh.
Ivory Aquino, who is also trans, will be the first trans character to appear in a movie based on DC Comics comics. First appearing in 2011 in the Batgirl comic by Gail Simone, Alysia Yeoh was the first major transgender character in a mainstream comic to be written in a contemporary context.
The shooting of the movie Batgirl continues in Glasgow, Scotland. The film will tell the story of Barbara Gordon’s transformation into Batgirl, the daughter of Gotham Police Commissioner James Gordon. We will be watching Leslie Grace as Batgirl. Commissioner Gordon will be played by JK Simmons, who portrayed the same character in the Justice League movie. Thus, the movie will be linked to the Justice League movie directed by Zack Snyder.
In the project, where Michael Keaton will appear as Batman again after 30 years, Brendan Fraser, who will also portray the character of Firely, and Jacob Scipio, whose role has not been announced. Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Batgirl’s release date is yet to be announced.
