It is not tomorrow the day before that Quentin Dupieux will stop his wacky comedies, and this, for our greatest pleasure. “Incredible But True” hits theaters Wednesday, June 15.
Who tries to explain the film?
Mixing the absurd with hilarious stories, Quentin Dupieux has been creating his own cinema for several years. When we attend a work of the filmmaker, we know it easily. Very often, it is a plot straight out of an unlimited imagination, and on an idea that is almost too simple or too crazy. As is the case withIncredible but true, currently in theaters. In this feature film, a couple settles in a pavilion, and discovers a hatch located in the cellar that will change their existence.
Admittedly, the synopsis seems wiser than mandibles where two friends found a giant fly in their trunk, or that the idea of a killer tire in Rubber. But it remains a story again difficult to tell for an actress like Anaïs Demoustierwho once again collaborates with the director after At office. The French actress explained it this way during the promotion of the film :
Each time I worked with him (Quentin Dupieux), I tried to tell relatives what film we were making, I could clearly see in their heads that they were perplexed. However, when I content myself with summarizing it, the reaction is often the same, between astonishment and laughter. It only happens with Quentin’s films, as a demonstration of his uniqueness but also of his ability to find funny but never superficial stories.

So far, the trailers ofIncredible but true remained very enigmatic. But the comic springs of the film should surprise more than one.
As crazy as the last Dupieux?
For this film, Quentin Dupieux also finds Alain Chabat with whom he has already collaborated, in particular for Reality. The two newcomers to the “Dupieux Universe” are Léa Drucker and Benoit Magimel. For the French actress, being an actress in a film by the director means entering a unique world. She speaks of it in these terms:
Entering his universe means coming face to face with a very open but meaningful imagination. The problems of the characters seem to me quite concrete and even more human. It’s the context that is crazy, out of the ordinary.

Incredible but true is thus announced in the right line of the last films of the scenario writer. Funny, fresh, intriguingly absurd, with involved actors. Anaïs Demoustier also promises a comedy with several facets:
“Amazing But True” manages to be both a moving and funny film. I want to tell people that even if he will probably send them back to questioning, they will have a good time. And then, I promise to reimburse them for their place if they get bored there!
Incredible but true is to be discovered on June 15, 2022 at the cinema.
