With “Call Me By Your Name” in 2017, Timothée Chalamet and Luca Guadagnino delivered what is probably the most successful gay screen love story of the new millennium after “Brokeback Mountain”. The film has long since had a fan base that is as huge as it is loyal – and so it is of course automatically an event when the “Suspiria” director and the “Dune’ star working on a film together again. However, it remains to be seen if Bones And All is actually the film that Call Me By Your Name fans have been hoping for from the duo – or whether they don’t (consciously) offend everyone.
After all, “Bones And All” is anything but an everyday love story: after all, the young woman whom Lee (Timothée Chalamet) falls in love with on a road trip has certain tendencies that are difficult to combine with a “normal” everyday relationship. Maren Yearly (Taylor Russell) is a cannibal who lives somewhere in the middle of nowhere because she is ashamed of herself and was rejected by her family…
By the way, we’re seeing “Blood And All” at its world premiere at the end of August / beginning of September at the Venice Film Festival – and we’ll then publish a review here directly, in which we’ll tell you whether “Call Me By Your Name” fans can continue to look forward to it or perhaps change/lower their expectations a bit.
Of course, most fans of the cult love film “Call Me By Your Name”, the first collaboration between Luca Guadagnino and Timothée Chalamet, are looking forward to the long-announced “Call Me By Your Name 2”. But of course there is a huge problem: Chalamet’s “Call Me By Your Name” co-star Armie Hammer is out of the acting business after allegations of abuse, including disturbing fantasies of violence and thoughts of cannibalism – probably for good.
So it’s a bitter coincidence that the first trailer for Guadagnino’s and Chalamet’s “Bones And All” was released on the same day of all days the first trailer for the documentary series “House Of Hammer” about the abuse allegations against Armie Hammer (“Death on the Nile”) has been released:
