It’s hard to believe, but a whopping ten years have passed since the theatrical release of the first “The Hunger Games” film. Since then, leading actress Jennifer Lawrence has enjoyed a meteoric rise, winning an Oscar, taking some time off and recently making her first comeback efforts. The “Panem” franchise hasn’t slept in the meantime either: With “The Hunger Games – The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” the dystopian mixture of science fiction, bitter social commentary, action and young-adult romance will be released in November 2023 a prequel.
As a kind of bridging between this year’s anniversary of the film series and the prequel that fans have been eagerly awaiting, a new collector’s set of the previous saga will be released soon: On November 24, 2022 will be released with “The Hunger Games” as 10th Anniversary 4K Ultimate Steelbook Collection exclusively at Amazon a super stylish 8 disc setwhich contains all four films on 4K disc as well as Blu-ray.

The set consists of a slipcase including four 2-disc Steelbooks. Each steel book contains a film from the “Hunger Games” saga about the young Katniss Everdeen, who unexpectedly becomes a living symbol of a revolution.
The four steelbooks have a spine motif that is made up of the mockingjay, and the backs of the steelbooks have a related motif, namely a map of Panem that shows which district is where. The front of the Steelbook, on the other hand, shows atmospheric illustrations of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, which differs greatly from the rather boring, previous editions and will undoubtedly be an eye-catcher on the film shelf.
Directed by Gary Ross, the first Hunger Games film and its Francis Lawrence-directed sequels Catching Fire, Mockingjay Part 1 and Mockingjay Part 2 grossed nearly $3 billion at the worldwide box office. Around 14 million admission tickets were sold in Germany alone – So it’s no wonder that the film world based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novels is not left to rest.

However, the future of the film series lies in the past of said film world: “The Hunger Games – The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” takes place over 60 years before the first part and tells how the future President Coriolanus Snow gets first-hand experience of the Hunger Games. While Francis Lawrence returns to the director’s chair and James Newton Howard, who wrote the catchy film music for the previous films, is also part of the party again, the film adaptation of “The Song of Bird & Snake” numerous new personalities added.
The script was written by Oscar winner Michael Arndt, who is known for films as diverse as “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Toy Story 3”. Arndt is writing a script for this saga on his own for the first time, but he is not a “Hunger Games” newcomer: he has already revised the screenplay for “Catching Fire” under a pseudonym. In front of the camera, meanwhile, the prequel gathers such stars as “West Side Storylead actress Rachel Zegler, multiple Wes Anderson collaborator Jason Schwartzman, Oscar winner Viola Davis, Game Of Thrones veteran Peter Dinklage and those from “Euphoria“ known Hunter Schafer.
