


When Marvel officially announced the anti-hero team-up film “Thunderbolts” this year, comic book fans naturally started speculating as to who in the MCU could be part of the troupe known from the templates that were similar to that Suicide Squad at DC are not actually the dazzling world saviors, but nevertheless declare war on a threat together on behalf of the government.
Now the guesswork is over: As we learned at the Disney D23 trade fair in Anaheim, California, Marvel has now announced the composition of the somewhat different team, which brings together all sorts of well-known characters from previous MCU projects, with quite a few surprises among them …
- Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnesthe former Winter Soldier (known from various MCU films)
- David Harbor as the Red GuardianRussia’s answer to Captain America (known from “Black Widow”)
- Florence Pugh as Yelena Belovaa Black Widow (known from “Black Widow” and “Hawkeye”)
- Olga Kurylenko as Taskmasterthe rehabilitated Black Widow villain who can duplicate her opponents’ fighting techniques in minute detail
- Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka US Agent (known from “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier”)
- Hannah John Kamen as Ghost (known from “Ant-Man And The Wasp”)
The colorful group is assembled by the mysterious Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis Dreyfus), who John Walker recruited in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier and who Yelena used on Hawkeye at the end of Black Widow. We will certainly find out in “Thunderbolts” exactly what the string puller is all about and what plans she is really pursuing.
However, many comic book connoisseurs may be wondering why Baron Zemo, played by Daniel Brühl, is missing from the list above, after all he is inseparably linked to the Thunderbolts as the leader in the templates. However, it is possible that the MCU will now go a different way here, after all Zemo is now in the custody of Wakandas here Elite-Women warriors of the Dora Milaje (as we saw at the end of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier). Maybe you save a performance by Zemo as a surprise.
We’ll be smarter at the latest when the MCU adventure appears – which, however, will take almost two years: Thunderbolts hits theaters on July 24, 2024.
