Before he soon hones his skills in “John Wick 4” is allowed to prove, martial arts ace Scott Adkins is already letting it rip in “One Shot” from May 19th – and without any obvious cuts! Here is the German trailer:
He has starred in Hollywood blockbusters such as The Bourne Ultimatum,Doctor Strange’ or ‘The Expendables 2’. His fans love Scott Adkins above all for the gruff direct-to-video rippers, who bake much smaller rolls, but don’t waste the British martial arts talent in an irrelevant supporting role, but as Adkins-vehicle celebrate the skills of their main actor . Because he not only has the physical requirements for an action hero, but also the necessary charisma. Recent example of this: “One Shot – Mission Out of Control”.
The action hit, which was released in large parts of the world at the end of 2021, is finally making its way to Germany after a six-month delay. Fans of brute-explosive genre fare should mark May 19th in their calendars – that’s when “One Shot” will finally be released in Germany, as a purchase VOD. The rental version as well as DVD and Blu-ray will follow on May 27th.

Incidentally, the film is the third collaboration between Adkins and director James Nunn after “Hooligans 3” and “Eliminators” – and yet “One Shot” is not just one film among many. The special feature: The film comes without any obvious cuts and thus becomes a particularly immersive film experience. There’s a foretaste of it in the trailer (in which, in contrast to the film itself, there are indeed a few cuts).
This is “One Shot” with Scott Adkins
Jake Harris (Adkins) is given the job of transferring a British citizen, who goes by the name of Mansour, who is being held on a Polish island in the Baltic Sea, to the United States. Together with a troupe Elite-Soldiers and military analyst Zoe (Ashley Greene) he is supposed to bring the man to safety and thus enable him to confirm important details about a planned terrorist attack on the Capitol in Washington that only he knows.
But shortly after Harris’ arrival at the secret site, it becomes clear what dangers the mission entails. When he and his team are suddenly attacked by an army of terrorists, it is not only important to protect Mansour’s life, but also not to die himself…
With ratings of 5.6/10 at IMDB and 59 percent positive reviews Rotten Tomatoes (As of May 17) “One Shot” scores pretty average overall. As an action and adkins fan, however, the author of this article can only recommend that like-minded people take a look.

Like most action films with the Brit, “One Shot” was also made with limited resources and thus clearly does not belong to the blockbuster group mentioned at the beginning, but rather to the direct-to-video group. Nevertheless: in the brute 90-minutes no stone is left unturned. Not least because of his real-time gimmick, he hardly gives his audience any time to breathe deeply. So if you’re in the mood for an entertaining action spectacle with that certain extra, you’ve come to the right place with “One Shot”!
