The Gucci heirs are unhappy with the movie “House of Gucci” and threaten to sue via a press release. Explanations.
If the Gucci family had already expressed their strong dissatisfaction with the idea of a film project, they are now taking it to the next level by threatening to sue House of Gucci, the film by Ridley Scott released on the 24th. November in France.
“The film’s production didn’t bother to consult with the heirs before describing Aldo Gucci. (…) The Gucci family reserves the right to take any initiative to protect its name and image, as well as those of those close to it.“, is it indicated in a letter published by the Italian press agency ANSA, signed by the heirs of Aldo Gucci (1905-1990), the founder of the luxury brand.
It is clarified that the Gucci heirs were particularly hurt by the description of Patrizia Reggiani, “a woman convicted of having ordered the murder of Maurizio Gucci (presented) as a victim“.
In the letter, the heirs express their regret that Aldo Gucci and his relatives are portrayed as “hooligans, ignorant and insensitive to the world around them. (…) It is extremely painful from a human point of view and an insult to the heritage on which the brand is built today.“
Directed by Ridley Scott, back in the cinema just a month after The Last Duel (already with Adam Driver), House of Gucci looks back on the rise of the family empire, and the romantic relationship between Maurizio and Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) and the circumstances that led to the murder of the heir to the empire.
