“Beast” seems to be a horror-adventure thriller, the basic idea of which is known from numerous other animal horror films – be it “Jaws” or Stephen King’s “Cujo” or most recently “Rogue Hunter” with Megan Fox: A wild predator makes Hunt for people who are either trapped or otherwise unable to escape.
At the heart of “Beastsays Nate Samuels (Idris Elba), who after the death of his wife wants to get closer to their teenage daughters Norah (Leah Jeffries) and Meredith (Iyana Halley). This is set to happen on a vacation to Africa, where the three visit Nate’s friend Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley).
But soon the joint safari is interrupted by a man, bleeding and distraught, who stumbles in front of the group’s car and tells them something about a “devil”. The four quickly realize that a lion that has gone berserk is up to mischief in the area, mercilessly hunting everything in its territory and even wiping out entire villages without eating its prey.
Nate fights desperately for his daughters to survive, but the lion just won’t give up. And soon human hunters get involved, who are after the lion…
