Over the updates, Horizon Forbidden West still manages to progress and amaze us on a technical level. Here are the PS5 improvements of the new patch 1.17 available now.
Like good wine, Horizon Forbidden West gets better week by week. A technically breathtaking game that is still evolving. Guerrilla Games has, among other things, created a new graphics mode.
A 40fps mode for Horizon Forbidden West
Like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, a “Balanced” graphics mode at 40fps is available for Horizon Forbidden West. And it’s not over.
Update 1.17 brings support for VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and HFR (High Refresh Rate). VRR improves dynamic resolution to 60fps. With the HFR, the framerate can climb up to 120fps. The sacrifices to have such a high frame rate are not listed.
As with all previous patches, there are a bunch of fixes for stability and performance, main and side quests, open world activities, machines, weapons and even the user interface. here is the full changelog.
In addition, the studio ensures that the complaints of the players are heard. Thus, Guerrilla Games is working to resolve the various issues raised by the community. If you want to participate, you can fill in this form detailing, in English, the problems encountered. Whether they relate to a graphical bug, progression, audio etc.
An expanding universe
Before a third game, the universe of Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel will develop outside of video games. Indeed, a Netflix Horizon 2074 series is in production. It will aim to tell events not experienced by Aloy and the player during the two titles, which take place in parallel with the main frames of the apps.
Horizon Forbidden West is currently available on PS5 and PS4.
