The Hollywood Critics Association Awards found their owners at the ceremony.
Hollywood Critics Circle Awards
The Hollywood Critics Association held its fifth awards ceremony Monday night at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. Competing for the Best Picture Oscar at the 94th Academy Awards, one of the prominent films of the year, CODA received the Best Picture award, while the actor Troy Kotsur embraced the second Best Supporting Actor Award after the SAG Awards.
Tick, Tick… Boom! brought its director Lin-Manuel Miranda the Best First Feature Award and the lead actor Andrew Garfield the Best Actor Award. The Best Actress award went to Kristen Stewart for her performance in Spencer. This year’s Best Director Award was shared by the two directors. Denis Villeneuve for Dune and Jane Campion for The Power of the Dog was honored by the Hollywood Critics Circle.
Honorary Awards were also distributed at the ceremony. The Acting Achievement Award went to Nicolas Cage, while the Artist Achievement Award went to the director of photography Greig Fraser. In addition, master filmmaker Kenneth Branagh, who came to the fore with his autobiographical film Belfast, was awarded the Master of Arts Award, while Guillermo Del Toro received the Director’s Achievement Award.
