All films shot in color by the Master of Thriller Alfred Hitchcock are screened in movie theaters with the special program of the Istanbul Film Festival, sponsored by Nippon Paint.
Jamaica Inn and RebeccaThis third adaptation of Daphne du Maurier, after , is one of those films that shows why Hitchcock was given the “Master of Suspense” glory. In her first work with the director, the film, in which Tippi Hedren plays the socialite daughter of a newspaper owner father, starts out like a love story, but when her hero arrives in the seaside town of Bodega Bay, it turns into a nightmare where people are exposed to increasing doses of bird attacks with sure and unhurried steps. The scenes where the birds gather in a silent alliance before and after the attacks are among the most chilling moments of Hitchcock cinema. The director, who gives a vital role to music in the movie Nice, does not make use of external music at all, but uses sounds, especially birds, as music.
