‘Hello Mom, Here Baby’ star Kirstie Alley has died

Kirstie Alley, who played Mollie in the “Hello Mom” ​​trilogy, has died aged 71 from cancer. John Travolta did not fail to pay tribute to him.

She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with the certainty of her eternal zest for life and all the adventures that lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.

Tributes from John Travolta and Ted Danson

Kirstie Alley began her career appearing on film in Star Trek 2: Khan’s Wrath (1982) then in the series masquerade (1983-1984). If she chained the following years of secondary roles, she already marked the spirits with the popular series Cheers (1987 – 1993) with Ted Danson, before becoming the iconic face of mollie in Hello mom, here baby! (1990). A romantic comedy that she shares with John Travoltawhich did not fail to pay tribute to the actress following the announcement of his death.

Ted Danson also spoke to Deadline. He evokes his memory of a scene shot with her in Cheershighlighting “her ability to play a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown while being both moving and extremely funny“, as well as the many moments of joy he was able to share with Kirstie Alley.

I’m so sad but also grateful for all the times she made me laugh. I send my love to his children. As they well know, their mother had a heart of gold. I will miss her.

Unforgettable Hello mom, here baby!

In Hello mom, here baby!, Kirstie Alley plays a single mother who finds some support with James, the taxi driver who drove her to the hospital the day she gave birth. After that, Mollie and James remain friends. It even becomes her son Mikey’s babysitterbefore falling in love with Mollie.

The particularity of this fresh and charming comedy, and that even if he is not old enough to speak, young Mikey expresses his thoughts through a voiceover (that of Bruce Willis) which adds a comedic tone. Hello mom, here baby! was a great success with nearly 300 million dollars in revenue worldwide. The film made Kirstie Alley a memorable actress for an entire generation.

After that, two sequels emerged, Hello mom, it’s me again (1991) and Hello mom, it’s Christmas (1993). For the French public, we remember the voice of Marie Vincent who voiced the actress in these three films – among others.

During the 1990s, we could also see Kirstie Alley in Harry in all his states (1997) by Woody Allen or in The Sextons go green (1997) alongside Tim Allen. His last appearance in front of the screens took place in 2022 in the American version of The Masked Singer.
