The telefilm “Il est elle” carried by the young Andréa Furet arrives on TF1. The fiction traces the journey of a young girl born in the body of a boy. Parents will have to support her in her transition to the feminine gender, but everything is not so simple. We will also have to fight for the unity of the family.

He is she : a TV movie with a strong message

This is a special first for the young actress Andréa Furet, who takes her first steps in the lead role in the TV movie He is she. A mirror character for the young girl who herself has made its transition to the female gender. A real echo of his own history therefore, with an awareness of his transidentity at the age of 15. Here she embodies Emma, born in the body of a little boy and baptized by her parents Julien.

She can then count on the unfailing support of his mother, played by Odile Vuillemin (Profiling, A perfect man, Two women). In the role of the father who has more trouble accepting this transition, we find Jonathan Zaccaï (The Great Bath, Unfaithful). It is in prime time and on a prime-time channel that the TV movie is broadcast, the opportunity to transmit an important message and to open minds, as the actor explains to us:

I wanted to defend this character and understand him, because I tell myself that he probably looks like some fathers, who have difficulty in accepting the transidentity of their child. As a parent we are obviously afraid of what may happen to our child. And it is this fear that makes him become an obstacle. By wanting to protect her, he does the opposite and is harsh and cruel. I hope this kind of film will raise awareness.

A moving story

In Clément Michel’s TV movie, freely adapted from Barricades, the book by Charlotte Bousquet and Jaypee, the life of Sabine and Cédric changes the day their son, Julien, confesses his certainty to them to be a girl in a boy’s body… The couple must therefore face this news and support their child in this transition to the female gender. They will have to fight for their child, but also for the unity of their family …

Without judgment, the fiction follows the physical and emotional course of Emma who will show a lot of courage and determination. A lot of scenes rich in emotions punctuate the film and illustrate the dilemma, parents’ doubts and fears who are assisting in their child’s transition.

TV movie He is she is already available on the Salto platform. It is broadcast this Monday, November 1 on TF1.
