Netflix has “Stranger Things” and “The Witcher”, Amazon has “The Boys’ and Disney+ has the Marvel Cinematic Universe, yes when it comes to good and eagerly awaited series, hardly any of the streaming services can keep up with the US pay channel HBO and the associated streamer HBO Max – This is also shown by the new trailer for the upcoming highlights at HBO Max.
The preview begins with some excerpts from the “Game Of Thrones” prequel “House Of The Dragon”, which just started August 22, 2022, but then also shows excerpts from such different series as “The White Lotus”, “His Dark Materials”. ‘ and ‘Industry’ or ‘Succession”, “The Gilded Age” and “Barry’, all of which will continue.
But fans of genre productions can also be happy: The trailer also confirms another season of “Warrior”, after the martial arts series based on an idea by Bruce Lee originally ran on the HBO sister channel Cinemax.
And although there have recently been rumors that after all the drama surrounding “Batgirl” and the associated cutbacks and restructuring at Warner and HBO, further DC projects are on the verge of collapse, there is good news for superhero fans: “Titans ‘ and ‘Doom Patrol’ are getting another season.
There are also excerpts from upcoming series restarts such as “The Idol”, “Love & Death” and “The White House Plumbers”. Yet the most anticipated series on HBO’s (Max) launch calendar is surely The Last Of Us, which is why it gets the most time in the preview video.
The series, based on the hit video game of the same name and starring Pedro Pascal (“Wonder Woman 1984”) and Bella Ramsey (“Game Of Thrones”), is set in a world where a deadly fungus has caused a zombie apocalypse and the few survivors have to flee from the noise-sensitive mushroom zombies.
The question remains as to where we can see all these series in Germany, because there is neither HBO nor HBO Max in this country. And the answer to that question is actually a bit more complicated: HBO series are traditionally shown on Sky and WOW (formerly Sky Ticket). However, after a new deal, HBO Max originals will be shown on the streaming service RTL+ in the future. “The Last Of Us” should end up on Sky because it’s an HBO original.
