The medium-length film “The House of Gaunts: Lord Voldemort Origins” is available for free online. Directed by the French Joris Faucon Grimaud, it imagines what the youth of the mysterious antagonist of Harry Potter looked like. A fan film made for fans of the JK Rowling saga.
Harry Potter: Voldemort’s Origins Fan Film is online
Shot thanks to a crowdfunding campaign of 62,000 euros, The House of Gaunt: Lord Voldemort Origins is finally online. With a total duration of 33 minutes, this ambitious medium-length film offers a new look at the harry potter enemy youth.
It was directed and co-written by the French Joris Faucon-Grimaud who cut his teeth by making movie trailers. In the title role we find the French actor Maxence Danet-Fauvel, already seen in the series SKAM France.
Announced in 2017, the film was able to count on the voluntary support of 80 cinema professionals and above all on a huge community of fans.
A crazy project for this Harry Potter fan
The young 27-year-old director recently confided to our colleagues at the newspaper The world what had prompted him to embark on this crazy bet :
I wondered if it was better to do an original screenplay at the risk of not convincing enough or to try to reach a lot of people via a “fan film” in a world that I adore.
And to add:
This film is a way to please fans as well as to build a CV, to prove myself, especially in fantasy cinema, a genre that is still underdeveloped in France.

The House of Gaunt: Lord Voldemort Origins is concluded by the beginning of the saga of JK Rowling. Indeed, we can witness the murder of James and Lily Potter by Voldemort, and his first confrontation with Harry.
