During Return to Hogwarts, Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) revealed that he injured Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) on the set of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The special Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts program brought together a good part of the cast of the fantastic saga but also to revive memories, more or less good, between the actors. When Jason Isaacs recalls the moments spent as Death Eater Lucius Malfoy, he recalls the pleasure of sharing scenes with Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) in which he had to torture him.
The actor recalls his first scene on the set of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with Tom Felton, ultimately cut in the edit:
“My first scene landed in the cut scenes. Draco touches an object and with the cane … [il devait le taper, ndlr]. But the pommel was sharp and he pierced her skin. He looked at me with tears in his eyes. And I said to him ‘Tom, I’m sorry! I thought it was lighter. ‘ And he told me [en pleurnichant, ndlr] ‘It’s good for the stage’ “.
This very first scene together is forever remembered by Tom Felton, who humorously emphasizes Jason Isaacs’ bewildering behavior on the set:
“Working with Jason was always a treat. Truth be told, not always. He would transform in a flash into the most horrible man I have ever met. He’s a horrible father and as soon as you get shouts Cut, he hugs me and asks me if he hurt me. I felt like I was seeing Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde “.
A beautiful way to define Lucius Malfoy, embodied to perfection by Jason Isaacs. And to think that the actor had passed the casting for the role of Gilderoy Lockhart originally!
