Headlining the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” performing on Broadway, actor James Snyder was fired following a complaint filed by the actress playing his wife on stage.

Headlining the hit play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child currently playing on Broadway, actor James Snyder, who plays Harry Potter, has been fired from the show, following a complaint brought against him by a cast member.

According to Variety, the producers had launched an internal investigation after receiving a complaint about “misconduct” against Snyder on November 19, 2021, filed by actress Diane Davis, who plays Ginny Potter, his wife, on stage. Snyder had been suspended pending an internal investigation. The conclusions rendered, he is therefore dismissed. Diane Davis has taken unpaid leave for an indefinite period.

“Ms. Davis has made a personal decision to take time off,” the producers said in a statement, adding: “Out of respect for his privacy – and to maintain the integrity of the investigation – we will not comment further on this matter.”

“We are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive workplace, which is why we have strong workplace policies and procedures in place for everyone involved in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This includes strict prohibitions against harassment in all its forms, as well as channels through which any employee can report conduct they deem inappropriate. We will continue to do everything we can to make the extremely talented team that brings this production to life feel safe, empowered, and fully supported”.
