After moving to DC Comics, director James Gunn will be returning to Marvel Studios for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ”. The opportunity for him to recall an emblematic actor who made a short appearance in the second volume.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 : what we know
Expected for May 3, 2023 in French theaters, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has just started filming. The feature film marks James Gunn’s return to Marvel Studios. Indeed, the director of the first two Guardians of the Galaxy was thanked by Marvel Studios in 2018 for outrageous tweets he wrote between 2008 and 2011. Tweets in which James Gunn joked on topics such as rape and pedophilia.
Quickly, DC and Warner picked up the director to offer him the directing of The Suicide Squad. A news that did not please Marvel. The firm therefore decided to call him back to stage Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
If we don’t yet know what the movie will be about, all of the usual cast are back. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff are all confirmed at the casting. And of course, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel will once again lend their voices to Rocket and Groot. Will Poulter also joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the skin of Adam Warlock, which will play a leading role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The return of Sylvester Stallone
Besides the return of the original cast, another comedian will also reappear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It is indeed by Sylvester Stallone, who will therefore return in the role of Stakar Ogord. The latter, leader of the Ravagers, made a short appearance in the second volume, where he settled accounts with the late Yondu. It was the actor himself who confirmed his return by posting a live video of the shoot on his Instagram account. A video in which he presents his subscribers with a machine that allows technical teams to duplicate the face of an actor in his absence. A pretty interesting behind-the-scenes clip that highlights this technique regularly used in Hollywood.

As a reminder, Stakar Ogord was created in 1975 by Steve Gerber and Sal Buscema. Initially, the character comes from an alternate universe in the comics; son of Quasar and Kismet, he is, from his birth, kidnapped and abandoned on the planet Arcturus IV. After a difficult childhood, he crosses paths with the Guardians of the Galaxy. He quickly joined the team, which helps him discover his past and becomes Starhawk superhero. Recently, on the occasion of the huge crossover Secret Wars, Stakar Ogord reappeared in the classic time continuum, that of Earth-616. So the character is back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, hoping he can play a bigger role than in his previous appearance.
