Fed up with TV series and auteur cinema, Emilie Semiramoth does not also hide her penchant for pop culture in all its eccentricities. From the bromance between Spock and Captain Kirk in Star Trek to the disillusionments of Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, she ignores gender boundaries.
Nostalgia never ceases to be heard on television. The cult film of the 80s, The Goonies, will be adapted into a TV series by Disney +.
“Goonies never say diet’s a memorable slogan from Richard Donner’s film The Goonies, which was a fan favorite of the 1980s. But it could be translated in a more concrete way.
A first film project has indeed started to be developed by Sarah Watson and subsequently became a pilot for FOX. In this project, a teacher helps her students recreate, shot for shot, the original Donner film. According to Variety, the series is now called Our Time and is in development at Disney +. The Donner Company and Amblin are also in the game.
“Sarah worked tirelessly to deliver this amazing script,” said Clancy Collins White, executive vice president and head of development. Then the coronavirus pandemic interrupted the process.”We came back several months later and finished the beautiful pilot, with an amazing cast, but unfortunately a little too young for Fox.” he continues.
“And so we immediately took it up a notch. We didn’t have anything in development at Disney + yet. It allowed us to find our way where there was none thanks to a great story, a great pilot, a great series. The deal took a long time to complete, but we’re really excited to move forward” concludes Clancy Collins White.
A question now arises: will the members of the original cast make a comeback? The participation of The Donner Company and Amblin allows us to be optimistic about this. No cast members have been released for the project and there is no release date yet, but that information is expected to be revealed soon.
