A few days ago, we offered you an article discussing the situation of the Ghostbusters license a few weeks before the theatrical release of Ghostbusters: The Legacy. When we talked about ghost breaker video games, we were telling you that no new games had been announced as the new movie approached. However, it appears that there is something new. And a studio familiar with ’80s licensing is involved.
A new video game Ghostbusters is currently in development at Illfonic. Even if the game has not yet been properly announced, the information seems official anyway. It was indeed given by one of the studio’s co-founders in person.
American musician and Illfonic co-founder Raphael Saadiq was recently guest on the podcast Questlove Supreme. In addition to his life and his musical career, his activity in video games was also mentioned. And it was when one of the hosts asked him how many games Illfonic has on the market right now that he broke the news:
Friday the 13th was the last (sic), then Predator (Hunting Grounds). And we’re working on Ghostbusters right now. Arcadegeddon is available now.
Unfortunately for those interested and / or intrigued, the animators do not bounce back on this revelation. Illfonic is therefore working on a new Ghostbusters game. Which raises many questions.
Towards a PS5 exclusive Ghostbusters video game?
Is this new title related to Ghostbusters Afterlife or is it associated with the license Ghostbusters in general ? Since Illfonic specializes in asymmetric multiplayer games, will this type of experience be discussed here as well?
It should also be noted that the brand Ghostbusters belongs to Sony. And Illfonic maintains a privileged relationship with Sony. So should we expect this new game Ghostbusters so only on PS5 (for example)? Illfonic will therefore have to answer many questions.
In conclusion, the only thing fans of Ghostbusters, is to wait for the official announcement of the game. Unless a new leak comes upside down before that. In the meantime, it should be remembered that SOS Fantômes: L’Héritage will be in French cinemas on December 1st.
What do you think of this news? Could you be interested in a new Ghostbusters game? And would Illfonic take care of it all right for you? What would you like to see in a new game adaptation of Ghostbusters? Tell us all in the comments below.
