Kit Harington, the role of Jon Snow in “Game of Thrones”, recently spoke about the mental health problems which had affected him at the end of the series and which had pushed him to take a year off.
In May 2019, shortly before the broadcast of the very last episode of Game of Thrones, British actor Kit Harrington visited an establishment specialized caregiver, according to the New York Post, manage stress and alcohol consumption. Today, the interpreter of Jon Snow evokes the “mental health problems” who were hers at the end of the HBO show.
“I encountered … some mental health issues after Game of Thrones and during the end of the series, to be honest”, says the 34-year-old Briton in the show The Jess Cagle Show, comments reported by Deadline. “And I think it had to do directly with the nature of the show, and what I’ve been doing for years.”
If Kit Harington does not expand on this “nature” which pushed him to a long parenthesis outside the sets, he nevertheless evokes his sabbatical year. “I kind of took a break after Game of Thrones, a break where I was like, ‘I don’t want to work for a year. I really want to focus on myself “”, he slips. “And I’m very happy I did that.”
Kit Harington’s outlook on Game of Thrones has evolved over the years. “Since the series ended, I have learned to be proud of it, not to run away from it”, declares the one who will be showing on November 3 of the Marvel blockbuster The Eternals. “I learned not to run away from what Game of Thrones was, nor to run away from the character I played. I just learned to own the show and be proud of everything it stands for.”
