“Game Of Thrones” hammer: main actor returns for sequel series

"Game Of Thrones" hammer: main actor returns for sequel series
HBO

At the end of eight seasons of “Game Of Thrones”, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) had to move north to live his life beyond the Wall, banished from Westeros. What he experiences there could now be the focus of a new “Game Of Thrones” series. At least, according to consistent reports, HBO is developing a sequel to the fantasy hit series.

All that is known is that Kit Harington is returning as Jon Snow for the new series and is at the center of the story. Whether the series only focuses on his adventures north of the Wall or whether he might be returning to Westeros is unknown. Especially the latter would also allow the return of other characters – above all Jon’s siblings Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), who now reigns as king over the country.

The sequel series is just one of numerous Game Of Thrones projects currently in development and/or in the works.

The concepts for several other live-action series in the fantasy universe of George RR Martin are currently being developed on behalf of US pay-TV broadcasters:

  • In the series also circulating under the title “Nymeria”10,000 ships” by Amanda Segel we should get to know the legendary warrior princess Nymeria (namesake of the direwolf of Arya), who led her people on boats to Westeros around 1,000 years before the events in “Game Of Thrones”.
  • In a currently under the two titles “9 voyages‘ or ‘The Sea Snake’ by Bruno Heller, it is intended to tell the story of the legendary seafarer Lord Corlys Velaryon, who led the largest fleet Westeros has ever seen.
  • “Dunk and Egg‘, also known as ‘A Knight Of The Seven Kingdom’, meanwhile is supposed to describe the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and the young Aegon V Targaryen around 100 years before the original series. Responsible is author Steve Conrad.
  • So far there are only rumors about one Series set in Flea Bottom Poor District should play. However, HBO has not yet made any announcement about this.

Alongside these live-action projects are also at least three animated series in progress. However, only one of these projects, with the working title The Golden Empire, has been unveiled so far. This takes place in the far east of Essos, the golden empire of Yi Ti, which was only briefly mentioned in the main series.

While all of these projects are still in the early stages of development, and HBO may pull the plug on some if concepts or initial scripts don’t impress, another Game Of Thrones series is definitely coming — and very, very soon.

House Of The Dragon sees the Targaryens ruling Westeros at the height of their power and will be available on August 22, 2022. Sky Germany and streaming service WOW (formerly Sky Ticket) are showing the new fantasy series parallel to the US release.
