Not only is he one of the most talented artists and directors in the history of cinema, but George Miller is also a being endowed with genuine empathy. Its very beautiful Three thousand years waiting for you hits theaters on August 24, 2022 (our review here), and Furiosaprequel to his masterpiece Mad Max: Fury Roadis set to arrive in our cinemas on May 22, 2024.
In full demonstration of his status as a living legend of cinema, George Miller has also just made the news in another way. Indeed, after having offered him an appearance in Three thousand years waiting for you, the Australian filmmaker has just cast Quaden Bayles for a small role in Furiosa.
An acting career for Quaden Bayles?
Unless you’ve been living in a cave for more than two years, everyone has heard of young Australian Quaden Bayles, who has dwarfism and was heavily bullied at school. Victim of harassment at school, his mother had broadcast in February 2020 heartbreaking video instantly went viral.
In this video, the 9-year-old boy was seen in tears and making suicidal remarks, exhausted by the harassment suffered at his school. Subsequently, he received Australian and international celebrity endorsementswith the aim of raising awareness about the dramatic consequences of harassment, in all its forms.
Invited by George Miller to join the cast of Furiosa, it’s a very nice snub sent by the filmmaker to all playground stalkers. He soberly commented on this initiative in an interview given to The Sydney Morning Herald :
It was good for us and it was good for him. And he was so good (in Three thousand years waiting for you) that he got a small role in “Furiosa”.
