While the French series “Drôle” had received excellent feedback from the public and critics, it was finally canceled by Netflix. The creator of the show, Fanny Herrero, confided in this unexpected cancellation.
Funny will ultimately not have a season 2
Arriving on Netflix on March 18, the series Funny only needed six episodes to charm its audience. The show created by Fanny Herrero (already behind Ten percent) took us into the world of stand up through four characters as different as they are ambitious.
While their stories were just beginning, and we really wanted to know what they would become in a season 2, Netflix announced the cancellation of the series last week, to everyone’s surprise. However, the show had found its audience, and collected very good reviews.

Sad news, therefore, for those who had followed the adventures of Nézir, Aïssatou, Apolline and Bling. But also for the designer, Fanny Herrero, who reacted at length in a interview given to our colleagues from Telerama.
Disappointed and sad
While two-thirds of season 2 had already been written and validated by Netflix, Fanny Herrero learned that the series was canceled in mid-April. Even though it was only “28 days” online, on Netflix, it is the start that is decisive.
And obviously, the audiences have not lived up to the expectations of the platform and its ruthless (and secret) algorithm. She said she was saddened by this news:
I’m disapointed. And sad. It’s such a commitment to create a series, to project itself over time, to dream up its sequel! To see it suddenly cancelled, my legs are a bit off.
If Fanny Herrero did not communicate the audience figures of Funnyshe admits that she did less than Lupine and Family Business, the two big French cards on the platform. But that his series might have needed more time for it to take off:
A first season is a prototype. We did it, it touched people, and that’s a good thing. But we might have needed more time to impose ourselves.
