Ryan Murphy is one of the greatest and most influential producers of our time. With “American Horror Story” he has created a real cult format that knows how to scare and terrify viewers all over the world time and time again. Murphy now works closely with the Netflix streaming service and regularly releases new (mini) series there. Just recently, for example, “Dahmer” was released, where everything revolves around the eponymous serial killer, who not only killed his victims, but also partially ate them.
With “The Watcher” Ryan Murphy’s new mini-series is already coming up – and again it’s based on true events, which of course cheers on the horror shown here a bit. Not only has it now been announced that the series will be available on Netflix from October 13, 2022, a first official trailer has also been released. And it definitely makes you want more!
In “The Watcher” is all about married couple Nora (Naomi Watts) and Dean Brannock (Bobby Cannavale), who have just bought their dream home in idyllic Westfield, New Jersey for the time being. However, after they put all their savings into the house, the couple’s euphoria is rapidly changing. Nora and Dean begin to realize that the neighborhood isn’t exactly welcoming, which is not only due to the odd older woman, Pearl (Mia Farrow), but also to her brother Jasper (Terry Kinney), who sneaks into the new neighbors’ house and im dumbwaiter hidden.
Real estate agent Karen (Jennifer Coolidge) constantly makes the duo feel unwelcome, while nosy neighbors Mitch (Richard Kind) and Mo (Margo Martindale) show no respect for property lines. Things get really chilling when the Brannocks are terrorized by letters delivered by the mysterious “Watcher“ to be sent. Little by little, more and more secrets in the immediate vicinity are revealed, which take Nora and Dean far beyond their borders.
