Michel Hazanavicius returns to an effective comedy with “Cut!”, a new tribute to cinema, this time through the Z series. The director talks to us about the film and his filmography with “OSS 117” or “The Artist”.
Cut! : the new comedy of Hazanavicius
Michel Hazanavicius continues to explore cinema in all its forms with Cut!. In this remake of the Japanese film Don’t cut! by Shin’ichirō Ueda, this time it’s the Z series that are in the spotlight when a director embarks on a broke zombie film. But of course, nothing goes as planned.
Michel Hazanavicius therefore offers a funny tribute to a certain cinema, the opposite of Hollywood (The Artist) or Jean-Luc Godard (The Redoubtable). However, the French director offers above all a hilarious comedy with dialogue destined to become cultjust like the two OSS 117or The American Class.

Not only “mister diversion”
On the occasion of the release of Cut! in theaters (and at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival 2022), we met Michel Hazanavicius to speak of his filmography. The director tells us about his debut in the genre of diversion with The American Classbut also his approach to jokes with OSS 117 and the incarnation of Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath by Jean Dujardin. He also looks back on the unpredictable success of The Artistbefore evoking the galleys of each shoot and whose Cut! is the perfect example. An interview to discover in the video in one of the article.
Cut! is to be discovered in theaters from May 17, 2022. Find our review of the film here.
