Many of our readers probably grew up with Netflix and Co. For them, it is a matter of course to press one or two buttons on the remote control and be presented with a seemingly endless range of films and series. It used to be different. Action fans, for example, simply went blindly to the video store to look around for fresh supplies, from Steven Seagal or Mark Dacascos, from Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone, from Jean-Claude Van Damme or Jackie Chan. The leading actor alone was reason enough to take the tape home and give the whole thing a chance. A phenomenon that today can only be found in the direct-to-video segment. And that includes “Triple Threat”.
If it’s enough for you just to spot the name of Scott Adkins, Tony Jaa or Iko Uwais on the front cover, if you simply have to see everything that equally talented martial artists like Michael Jai White, Tiger Hu Chen or Jeeja Yanin create , then “Triple Threat” is actually the ultimate must-see for you. Because not just one, but all of the action stars just mentioned are in the action hit by genre special Jesse V. Johnson (“Avengement”, “Accident Man”)! Tele5 is showing “Triple Threat” on June 30, 2022 from 10 p.m, although we can only advise on TV broadcasts with reservations. Because the FSK 18 actioner only runs in the shortened version. “Triple Threat” is available uncut on DVD and Blu-ray as well as in the stream, for example in the channel super fresh on Amazon Prime Video:

“Triple Threat”: Entertaining martial arts summit meeting
Our author Lutz Granert writes in the official DashFUN review of “Avengers among martial arts films”, which of course refers to the excess of martial arts A-listers represented in the film. For that reason alone, “Triple Threat” is not only worth a look for genre fans, but a real must-have. While the film naturally scores above all with its action, there is still room for improvement in terms of content. In the end, the DashFUN review gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

Billionaire heiress Xian (Celina Jade) from China wants to use her wealth to take action against a crime syndicate. Which wasn’t a well-considered idea, though? To hang the big bell in a TV interview. The woman is ambushed and becomes the target of the mercenary group led by the ruthless Collins (Scott Adkins) and his henchman Devereaux (Michael Jai White).
But Xian manages to escape – into a police station, where she encounters three powerful allies, all of whom still have a score to settle with Collins: mercenaries Long Fei (Tiger Hu Chen) and Payu (Tony Jaa) and the vengeful Jaka ( Iko Uwais)…
