Released at the cinema on August 18, 2021, “BAC Nord” tells the story of three BAC cops from the northern districts of Marseille caught in a terrible gear. An action thriller with a brilliant cast, including actors Karim Leklou and François Civil, whom we were able to meet.
François Civil and Karim Leklou: the new generation
The film BAC North is an action thriller different from what we are used to seeing in French cinema. We indeed feel the desire to use new codes to the genre. If the film does not succeed entirely, it can still count on a cast which is not necessarily used to this kind of films. If Cédric Jimenez finds Gilles Lellouche, whom he has already directed in La French, this is a first for Karim Leklou and François Civil. We recently saw the first pop the screen in the series Hippocrates, after remarkable performances in the cinema, and the second on the big screen in in particular The song of the wolf and My stranger. Two charismatic actors who will have to be counted on in the future and who are part of a new generation very talented, what they brilliantly show in BAC North.
BAC North, between physical roles and improvised dialogues
To interpret these cops of the BAC forced to go illegally to achieve their objectives, it was necessary to prepare. Indeed, the director stages sequences of chases and clashes, including a striking sequence of intervention on a deal point, who required substantial physical preparation. But there are also sequences where the dialogues take precedence over the action, to nourish portraits of individuals who each have their own particularities. This is what the actors say above all to retain, these moments of filming where they had more freedom to build their trio and the relationships that animate it.
How did they get on the project? How did they approach the physical sequences and what do they retain from the characters they play? We had the chance to ask them a few questions, the answers to which can be found in the video interview at the top of the article!
