The team of “Quatre Garçons full d’avenir” is preparing a sequel to the cult comedy. A video (in one article) and Olivier Brocheriou give news of the project which has found a producer.
Four Boys with a Future, the cult comedy
With time, Four Boys with a Future has become a cult comedy. Directed by Jean-Paul Lilienfeld in 1997, the film had 600,000 admissions in theaters and many subsequently caught up with the film with its video releases. We follow a first year law student at the Aix-en-Provence faculty, Arnaud Allard, who has just failed his exams for the third time. Depressed, he can count on his good friends Axel, Johan and Julien (known as Breitling) to cheer him up. At the wheel of Arnaud’s newly tuned car, the four friends will then go from evening to evening, and especially from galleys to galleys, to make Arnaud forget his failure.
The comedy connects the crazy situations and especially the mythical lines. To get an idea, here is a cult passage.
Where is the rest?
In mid-summer 2020, we learned that Olivier Brocheriou, Stéphan Guérin-Tillié, Olivier Sitruk and Eric Berger were reunited for a sequel to Four boys with a future. A first writing session was announced and early fans quickly reacted positively to this news. A year later, we have some news about this project. On the page Facebook from the movie, director Jean-Paul Lilienfeld posted a video with the four performers (available in an article).
They are accompanied in particular by the producer Benjamin Gufflet who has therefore decided to produce this new movie. He notably served as executive producer of I don’t want you either by Rodolphe Lauga, Inès Reg and Kévin Debonne, available on Amazon Prime Video, and co-founded the company 7833 Productions with Rodolphe Lauga. He also co-produced The source, a great discovery of 2019 (see our review). A decisive addition and good news for the progress of the project.
Finally, contacted by CineSeries, Olivier Brocheriou explained to us that script writing was in progress. Having already waited over twenty years to launch this sequel, they wanted to take their time to make things the best they could. The title initially announced Les Relous could also change for possibly “keep the mark Four Boys with a Future, but nothing is final for the moment“. Finally, the video ends all the same with a little teasing via a box of Pinky Balls which should be important …
