Next week it’s finally time: “Halloween Endshits theaters on October 13th! Director David Gordon Green officially puts an end to his Michael Myers trilogy, which follows John Carpenter’s “Halloween – The Night of Horrors”. However, it is doubtful whether it will actually be the last time that we see the legendary Haddonfield killer on the screen. As a fan of the original, I have one problem in particular anyway: “Halloween Ends”I don’t give a damn.
Carpenter’s Original was once the first horror film I saw when I was (much too) young and will therefore probably enjoy a certain special status for me forever. With him I discovered my love for horror cinema. In my life, I had no idea that comedy specialist Green would help the somewhat battered franchise with “Halloween” 2018 to new heights. The disillusionment last year was correspondingly great: “Halloween Kills” was extremely nasty and brutal, but also damn stupid. In the midst of an insane script, there were only a few nice Easter eggs here and there to keep connoisseurs of the series happy – but that just isn’t enough. Besides, we all know whose “nice” little brother is.
Yes, I’m still looking forward to seeing Michael again in the cinema on the hunt for assassination. However, the euphoria has long since given way to an expectation that is approaching zero, so that “Halloween Ends“ in the end at least impossible to disappoint. Things are very different with a film that is now once again a topic just in time for the Halloween season: the sequel to “Trick ‘R Treat – The Night of Horrors”.

Produced by X-Men mastermind Bryan Singer and directed by Krampus and Godzilla 2: King Of The Monsters director Michael Dougherty, the horror anthology achieved instant cult status 15 years ago – and it’s finally set to go get a second part.
Trick ‘R Treat 2 is “very actively in development,” director-writer Dougherty revealed at Beyond Fest. Although the green light has not yet been given, a return of the main character Sam, who has meanwhile become a cult figure, seems closer than ever. A sequel was already in the air a few years ago, but nothing came of it in the end. But this time it seems to be in good spirits.
That would be an absolute hammer for the fan base of “Trick ‘R Treat”, which has grown steadily over the past 15 years, which at the time did not receive a regular theatrical release internationally and only became a phenomenon through home cinema. This status of the film is also underpinned by a look at the previous DashFUN articles on “Trick ‘R Treat” – there aren’t many. However, the existing ones already make it clear that we are not talking about a classic run-of-the-mill direct-to-video horror film. That’s how it ended up in our list of 16 gems of a movie that’s released straight to home theater, and ‘Trick ‘R Treat’ is one of our picks for the spookiest night of the year:
The horror potpourri, which is as uncompromising as it is wonderfully black humor, combines four scary stories that take place on Halloween night, which ensure extremely entertaining pleasure. There really is something for everyone here!
Psychopaths, monsters and other creepy creatures are up to mischief here and deliver just as much candy as treats – from the school principal teaching a gluttonous boy not to steal sweets from others, to Little Red Riding Hood falling into the arms of a stone-cold womanizer. All of these stories are atmospheric, but above all always staged in a fun way and not only send a chill down the spine again and again. They also put a big smile on your face. Just perfect for a Halloween movie night!
