French cinema is celebrating this Friday, February 25, 2022. The Césars are broadcast live from the Olympia and unencrypted on Canal+. The opportunity for Anthony of Caunes, master of ceremonies, and Danièle Thompson, president of this 47th ceremony, to celebrate the seventh art à la française in the presence of numerous stars. For now, Anamaria Vartolomei (the event) won the César for best female hope and Benjamin Voisin (lost illusions) was crowned top male prospect. Magnetics was crowned Best First Film.

If the Césars offer a striking show each year, the important thing remains the prize list which rewards the best of French cinema from the past year. Among the nominated films are lost illusions (15 nominations), Annette (11 nominations), Aline (10 nominations), followed by North ferry (7 nominations). For now, lost illusions is the most awarded film of the evening with three Césars (best male hope, best sets, and best costumes). Annette also won its first prize: the César for best visual effects. Unlike the Oscars, the Césars reward the first attempts at the cinema by aspiring directors each year. In 2022, Gagarin, The Magnetics, The Cloud, The Snow Panther, and Slalom were named. It’s finally Magnetics which won the César for the best first film.
